A Really good read. Lengthy, but very tender and sweet

I liked this. Time and memory become kind of twisted, Ava's life becomes a maze of forgotten memories and truths that eventually present themselves to her. But it’s a labyrinth, sure enough…there are mysterious forces that have shaped her and things get confused. There are some pretty mysterious forces that have shaped her, but she discovers Kyle, and life meets fate. Exact quote from the book: “Our love was like a story that you only see in those cheesy romantic movies.” If it’s reminiscent of a movie, it’s memorable and sweet. Anyway, Ava has a hard history - I won’t spoil it - but if you follow her journey, there’s a lot of healthy self-discovery, forgiveness, love and power that await. This reminded me of "The Time Traveler's Wife" by Audrey Niffenegger. This is a tale of love against all odds and really figuring out who you are. There’s also Jesse and her mom which is deeply touching with elements from the other side…again, no spoilers. But there’s a deep connection there that is wonderfully written and tear jerking. And the boy and his dog was vivid and sad, but a poignant interlude nonetheless. The Afterlife comes calling for a few souls in this, and it reminds me of that Robin Williams movie, “What Dreams May Come.”
Tragedy and Trauma Forges a Woman

The cover has the shape of a grown woman and the book description Kyle and Ava having an eternal bond. One should know that a significant portion of this work (about the first 35%) is from the eyes of Ava when she is seven years old and then also as a young teen. The book is written in first person, and this puts you right in the events with the young girl. Tragedy and trauma cause Ave to question her relationship with God. Be forewarned, there are some tough scenes where women and children are not respected. It is a long book but reads fairly quickly as the language and flow are easy to follow.

I don’t believe that I would have been able to handle all these horrific events that continued to happen to the main character. It just shows how incredibly strong she was. I’m looking forward to her next book.

Giving up and Quitting was never mentioned or an option. Heart breaking that a child would be forced to endure such cruel acts!

I love this story. I read the first chapter and am in awe of this special girl and her journey. I want to know more. I want to dive into her consciousness and explore what her mind sees.

This is a good book. The author’s experience and creativity really reflects itself in the writing and the story they are able to weld together from that. I am all for getting to know others perspective and take on things, so this book is a stellar read for anyone who feels the same way.
